Former Minister MSM Anandan, who was re-inducted into the Tamil Nadu cabinet, was today sworn in as the Forest Minister.

AIADMK General Secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal and other cabinet ministers, were present when Anandan, who represents Tirupur North Assembly constituency, was formally inducted as Forest Minister at the Raj Bhavan, official sources said.

Governor K Rosaiah administered the oath of office and secrecy to him.

The governor had recently approved the recommendation of the chief minister to allocate the portfolio of forest to Anandan.

Anandan was left out of the Jayalalithaa-led cabinet that was sworn in on May 23, post her acquittal in a wealth case,

Highways Minister 'Edappadi' K Palaniswami was earlier holding additional charge of the portfolio of Forest.

This is the second change made in the AIADMK cabinet after Jayalalithaa was sworn-in as Chief Minister.

Transport Minister V Senthil Balaji was dropped from the cabinet on July 27 and his portfolio given to Industry Minister P Thangamani as additional charge.
