The Political Joint Action Committee agitating for a "united" Andhra Pradesh, warned the Andhra Chamber of Commerce today, against speaking about talking about the 'new' capital of the post-bifurcation, non-Telangana (Seemandhra) state, even while the people of Seemandhra are still agitating for a "united" Andhra Pradesh.

Today's statement comes after Andhra Chamber of Commerce President Muthavarapu Murali Krishna and R K Prasad, Secretary of the Andhra Chamber of Commerce told reporters here yesterday that they had requested the Union government to consider the Vijayawada-Guntur and Tenali regions to set up a 'new' state capital after the bifurcation.

They also informed that they had submitted a report to the Group of Ministers on the need to take up development of infrastructure in the Vijayawada region for better growth.

In a press release issued here today, Political JAC convenor K Shivaji said that it is unfortunate that the Andhra Chamber of Commerce asked the union government to consider Vijayawada as the new capital of the state after bifurcation.

He also expressed his displeasure about the Andhra Chamber of Commerce statement giving the impression that it supports the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, against the wishes of the people.

He also said that "some vested interests" are in favour of bifurcating the state in order "to gain business advantages" at the cost of students and the people.

Criticising attitude of Union ministers from the Seemandhra, he said that Union ministers and MPs from the region had completely failed to convince the Prime Minister not to bifurcate the state at a time when ministers from Tamil Nadu successfully convinced him of not attending the Commonwealth Heads of States Conference in Colombo later this month.
