Andhra CM, bureaucrats attend spiritual session

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today sought the support of spiritual guru Jaggi Vasudev to increase forest cover in the state.

Naidu made the appeal after the end of second day of the three-day yoga and meditation classes being conducted by Vasudev-led Isha Foundation.

Besides the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues and IAS and IPS officers, attended the classes on "Inner engineering for joyful living", a government release said here tonight.

During the session, officials were shown a documentary on "Project Green Hands", a campaign to plant trees and reverse environmental degradation. The project aims to create 10 per cent additional green cover in Tamil Nadu.
 

After the presentation, Naidu asked Vasudev to support his dream of increasing the green cover in Andhra Pradesh to 33 per cent in the next five years.

The spiritual leader agreed to support the government in its efforts to increase forest cover, the release said.

Speaking about the spiritual classes, Naidu said, "We are all in public service at various levels. We have many tensions, many challenges to face.

"We need to face these capably, efficiently and programmes such as these are very important. We need to increase the happiness quotient of this state. And, workshops such as these will make us work towards this goal.
