Andhra CM, other leaders condole death of Telugu filmmaker

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and other leaders in the state expressed grief over the death of veteran Telugu filmmaker and former Union minister Dasari Narayana Rao.

Besides Chandrababu, Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and Pradesh Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy, among others, condoled the death of the 75- year-old filmmaker-politician.

"The Telugu film industry has lost one of its pillars," Chandrababu said in a condolence message this evening.

"Dasari brought glory to Telugu films at the national level and had been a fatherly figure in the industry. His death is a deep loss to the film fraternity," the CM said.
 

He recalled his association with Dasari and extended sympathies to the bereaved family.

Film hero and TDP MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna also expressed grief over the veteran director's death.

"Dasari was an institution in himself," Balakrishna noted, adding he excelled not only as a director but also a writer, journalist and actor.

Jagan recalled the films like "Megha Sandesam" that Dasari made, which brought glory at the national level. He extended sympathies to the bereaved family.

Dasari was a towering figure of the Telugu film industry, PCC president Raghuveera said.

"He was an intellectual. As a writer, director and leader, Dasari is unmatched. As a Congress leader, his services to the society will always be remembered.

"Dasari's death is a big loss to the Telugu society," Raghuveera said in a statement.

Several ministers and other leaders also mourned the death of the movie legend.
