The engineer, a resident of Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh, died on the spot police said.
He was getting down from his motorcycle when the truck hit him, the police said adding the truck fled from the spot after the incident.
The engineer was an employee of a private company working on road construction from Rajauli to Bakhtiyarpur.
His body has been handed over to the company officials after post-mortem.
