Heated exchanges were witnessed between the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and opposition YSR Congress members during a debate on linking of rivers in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly today.

The opposition YSR Congress members trooped into the well of the House to protest after Minister K Atchannaidu was allowed to speak while YSR Congress party leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy was making a point.

The House witnessed a tense situation for some time with heated exchanges over certain comments made by TDP member Bonda Umamaheswara Rao on YSR Congress members Roja and Kodali Venkateswara Rao.

The Speaker adjourned the House at the juncture.

Some television channels showed footage in which Roja and other YSR Congress members could be seen making gestures towards the treasury benches.

Roja told reporters that TDP MLAs made objectionable remarks about her and YSR Congress and that the footage was released selectively.

TDP Chief Whip Kalva Srinivasulu said that the behaviour of YSR Congress members has been objectionable inside the House.
