The special court for CBI cases permitted the central agency to take Bramhananda, an Indian Railways Accounts Service officer, currently posted in Kolkata, and Nimmagadda Prasad alias Matrix Prasad in police custody from tomorrow till May 27 evening, CBI Deputy Legal Advisor Balla Ravindranath told PTI.

The duo will be questioned during day time in front of their counsels, who were directed by the court not to interfere with the CBI's interrogation, the DLA said.

Bramhananda and Prasad were arrested on May 15 by CBI and were yesterday remanded in judicial custody till May 30.

The CBI had sought 14-day custody of the duo to probe the "conspiracy angle" involving bureaucrats and Prasad, who caused substantial loss to the Andhra Pradesh government.

Bramhananda Reddy, who was a former Andhra Pradesh special secretary, was arrested for his alleged role in helping Jagan in amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

According to CBI, Prasad allegedly invested Rs 854 crore in the companies belonging to Jagan towards a largesse for which the then AP government, led by late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, doled out many favours in the form of awarding Vanpic project, a shipyard, and a green field airport initiated by the businessman at Ongole.
