Diversified PSU Andrew Yule & Co today said it would go for greater marketing of packet tea through both offline and online modes.

"We want to give greater stress on sales of packet tea of our produce both through online sales and retailing," Andrew Yule CMD Kallol Datta said.

He said so far the proportion of packet tea sales of the company was five per cent of its total produce. "We want to take it to 25 per cent," Datta told reporters here.

The company produces 12 million kg from its 15 gardens in Assam, Darjeeling and north Bengal.

Andrew Yule today launched a tea portal for B2C online selling of tea.

Regarding closed tea gardens in West Bengal, Datta said the company is contemplating to participate in the proposed auctioning of them.

He added that the Assam government had also approached the company for outright buying of closed tea gardens there.

Andrew Yule, he said, had told Assam government that it was interested in phase-wise purchase and the proposal is pending with the Industry Ministry.
