'Angry Indian Goddesses' wins at Rome Film Festival

Indian filmmaker Pan Nalin's female buddy movie "Angry Indian Goddesses" has bagged the BNL People's Choice Award at the 10th Rome Film Festival.

The film is described as a fresh and unbridled portrayal of women in India today.

It stars Sandhya Mridul, Sarah-Jane Dias, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Anushka Manchanda, Amrit Maghera, Rajashri Deshpande and Pavleen Gujral.

"Throughout the Fest, our spectators have appreciated the richness of this year's programme. I am proud and gratified that the quality of the films has been consistently praised by both the foreign and the Italian press," said Antonio Monda, artistic director of the Rome Film Fest.
 

The movie bagged the runners-up Grolsch Peoples Choice award at the 40th Toronto International Film Festival.
