Anjani Kumar takes over as Hyderabad city Police Commissioner

A 1990 batch IPS officer Anjani Kumar today assumed charge as the new Commissioner of Police of Hyderabad city.

Anjani Kumar, who served as Telanganas Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) for the last two years, took over as the new Hyderabad Police Commissioner from V V Srinivasa Rao at the Commissioners office here.

Prior to this, he served as Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Hyderabad city besides was also Inspector General of Police Warangal Range and Deputy Inspector General of Police of Nizamabad Range.

He was also chief of Greyhounds (elite anti-naxal unit) and also served as the chief of Counter Intelligence Cell.

 

An alumni of University of Delhi, Anjani Kumar was awarded President's Police Medal for Distinguished Servicesand also awarded Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Services besides bestowed with Internal Security Medal for working in Naxal affected area.

In a major reshuffle, the Telangana government last night transferred 38 IPS officials and appointed new Police Commissioners for Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerates here.
