Actress Anna Faris has been slapped with a USD 5,000 fine after her pet dog was found homeless.
The 39-year-old actress has been dished out the penalty after the Chihuahua - named Pete - she adopted from Kinder4Rescue four years ago was found emaciated wandering the streets in North Hollywood, California, reported TMZ.
Writing on the Kinder4Rescue official Facebook page, Laurel Kinder - who runs the rescue centre - wrote in a since-deleted post: "Calling Anna Faris house bunny The puppy you adopted from us years ago was found starving on the street. Someone brought it into a vet, scanned the microchip, we've been calling you for days no return call did you read your contract about giving our dogs away and the USD 5,000 fine.

Faris and her husband Chris Pratt, with whom she has four-year-old son Jack, are reportedly out of town and arranged for the dog to live elsewhere, although it's not yet known whether that arrangement was permanent or temporary while they were away.
Her representative said, "Anna is thrilled that the dog has been found, and is ensuring all necessary arrangements are made to bring the dog home."
It's not yet known if the shelter is willing to hand Pete back over to the couple.
