Anna University in Tamil Nadu may get the University on Potential for Excellence (UPE) status out of the seven universities shortlisted across the country, a top UGC official said here today.
"However, the final decision on giving the UPE status will be taken during the sub-committee meeting, possibly next month, by which the University will get Rs 75 crore," Prof H Devaraj, UGC Vice-Chairman told reporters here.
He said the sub-committee had identified the University to have most of the quality parameters and had sought some more details, which was given on March 3l.

Four of these seven universities are from Tamil Nadu, including Anna University, Alagappa University, Bharatidasan and Bharathiar, he said while speaking at a function at Avanashilimgam University for Women, where he inaugurated a 100 KVA Solar Power Grid Project.
On Massive Online Open Courses, he said E-Content for UG and 'E-Pathasala' would become operational by December 2015, though it was planned to be commissioned by September.
Under this scheme, 78 e-subjects would be given for UG courses and 77 to PG courses, Devaraj added.
