The 30-year-old actress, who wed Shulman in September, said that she has always wanted children but wanted to have a successful career before she embarked on motherhood, reported Sun online.
"I have wanted to be a mom since I was 16. But I also wanted to have a career, so I have been chomping at the bit to be a mother for a really long time. I also had to find a baby daddy first - which I now have," Hathaway said.
She also said that she could not play the role of a depressed prostitute in "Les Miserables", as her husband's presence on the movie's set made her very happy.
"About three days into it I realised I was going to have to ask him if he didn't mind me being by myself because he was makin g me so happy," said Hathaway.
