Annual Budha Amarnath yatra from Aug 1

The annual pilgrimage to the holy shrine of Budha Amarnath in the border district of Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir will commence on August one.

Inauguration of the two-week-long yatra will be held at the base camp in Bhagwati Nagar area here on August 1, Poonch district VHP chief Nishu Gupta said.

The first batch of pilgrims will leave for Poonch the next day from the base camp, he said.

The last batch will leave Jammu on August 11, he said adding free lodging and boarding will be provided to pilgrims throughout the route.

According to faithful, the Amarnath Yatra completes only after paying obeisance at the Budha Amarnath temple in Poonch.
