Annual Delhi festival begins with Waheeda Rehman's "Guide"

The nine-day long festival will showcase the 76-year-old actor's major hits in her over six-decade career including "Pyaasa", "Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam", "Teesri Kasam" and "Chaudhvi Ka Chand".

"I feel honoured that Habitat Film festival is screening some of the favourite films of my career. I feel good when audience still show the same craze as they used to when these films were released. These films are with those people whom I have enjoyed working like Guru Dutt and Dev Anand," Waheeda told PTI.

Apart from some critically acclaimed national films, this year also brings a huge array of some award-winning regional films.

 

These include films like director Umesh Kulkarni's "Deool" (Marathi), Gurvinder Singh's Anhey "Ghorey Da Daan" (Punjab), "Phijigee Mani" (Manipuri), and "Adi Madhyantam "(Malayalam) and many others.

"This year we are celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema and what better retrospective than to pay tribute to an actor who had a filmi sojourn of 50 years of her journey starting in 1955. That's why a retrospective on Waheeda Rehman," said Vidyun Singh, director programmes, Habitat World.
