: The annual flower show in this city, suspended for the last five years due to various natural calamities, will resume this year, District Collector E Vallavan said today.
Speaking to reporters here, he said the flower show could not be conducted after 2011due to natural calamities like Thane cyclone, drought and other unforeseen circumstances.
Karaikal is an enclave of the union territory of Puducherry.

The Collector said the Puducherry government has allotted Rs 35 lakh for conducting thethree day show, which will be held from February 5.
In addition to this amount, private establishments hadalso come forward to contribute for the show, he said.
Flowers, vegetables and fruits from Puducherry and neighbouring stateswould find place in the show. Rural folk artistes would stage programmes with a view to preserving the cultural heritage of this region.
In addition,school and college students would participate incultural events.
Earlier,Vallavan held a meeting with officials of various departments and discussed arrangements for the show.
