Annual Ijtima begins in Bhopal

The annual global Muslim

congregation, 67th Aalami Tableeghi Ijtima began today at Eintkhedi near here with the dawn prayer (Fajr Namaz) even as organisers appealed volunteers to ensure that the venue remains polythene and tobocco free.

Considered as one of the biggest Muslim congregations in the country, the event sees people arriving here from across India and abroad.

Noted Islamic scholars will also deliver discourses during the three-day event.

"We have appealed to the volunteers to take special care to ensure that the venue remains polythene and tobacco- free," said Organising Committee Spokesperson Ateeq-ul-Islam.

He said that the committee has not allowed a single shop at the venue to keep tobacco products and deployed a group of 2,500 trained volunteers to manage traffic arrangements from the railway station to the venue.
 

Madhya Pradesh government has made special arrangements for the event that is expected to be attended by over 10 lakh Muslims.

The main function will be held within a sprawling 35 acre-area while another 25 acres is reserved for the food zone.

An additional tent accommodation has been made for accomodating 1,000 Jamaats coming from abroad with facilities like water and toilets.

The Jamaats (participants) from different parts of the world including US, Russia, Morocco, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Malaysia, France, Fiji, Indonesia, South Africa, Ghana and other nations have already arrived for taking part in the annual congregation.
