Two persons, one of them director of a private firm, were arrested and police claimed to have busted a new gang involved in facilitating fraudulent admissions in Madhya Pradesh's medical colleges.

They were identified as Santosh Gupta and Sudheer Rai, Deputy Inspector General Rakesh Gupta told reporters here.

Santosh, who hails from Jabalpur, was apprehended from that city while Rai is a local resident. Rai is director of a private consultancy firm which claims to help students get admission in private medical colleges in the state, he said.

The DIG did not reveal the duo's modus operandi but said their gang collected huge amount of money from the families of students looking for admission in government-run medical colleges.

The gang members were in touch with some corrupt officials of Madhya Pradesh Professional Education Board and facilitated admissions with their connivance, he said.

More associates of Santosh and Rai are likely to be arrested soon, the police officer added.

Earlier, police had busted another gang which helped candidates secure admission to MBBS course in government colleges by providing impostors to write entrance test.
