The Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra police has busted another illegal telephone exchange at Latur in the state.
On the basis of information given by those arrested earlier, it raided an illegal telephone exchange located in Rajiv Gandhi chowk area of Latur city last night and seized four 'gateway machines' and 112 SIM cards of Reliance and BSNL, an ATS official said.
This exchange was in operation for the last two months, the official said.

The persons operating these exchanges used Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), a technology that allows a person to make voice calls using an Internet connection instead of a regular phone line.
The accused received overseas calls over the Internet and transferred them to receivers in India through an illegal international 'gateway'. The system linked the Internet/VoIP and mobile phones, which is not permitted as per India's telecom laws.
So far, ATS has arrested six persons in the case.
