Another spell of moderate snowfall in Himachal

Maximum temperatures dropped by few notches in mid and higher hills of Himachal Pradesh as high altitude tribal areas experienced fresh snowfall.

However, the region had a dry and clear day in the morning though strong winds lashed the mid and higher hills and sky was overcast in the afternoon.

The local MeT office has predicted rains or snow in higher hills over the next three days and rains and snow at isolated places in mid and lower hills over next two days.

The minimum temperatures dropped to minus 6.3 degrees in Keylong, minus 3.4 degrees in Kalpa and minus 1.2 degrees in Manali while Shimla and Solan recorded a low of 3.3 degrees and 3.4 degrees respectively, followed by Bhuntar 4. 0 degrees, Palampur 5.0 degrees, Sundernagar 5.1 degrees, Una and Dharamsala 6.7 degrees and Nahan 9.5 degrees.
 

The maximum temperatures rose by few notches in lower hills and Una was warmest in the region with a high of 25.6 degrees, four degrees above normal while Solan, Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded maximum temperatures at 22.5 degrees, 21.4 degrees and 21.2 degrees, followed by Dharamsala 16.8 degrees, Shimla 15.3 degrees, Manali 13.6 degrees and Kalpa 10.0 degrees Celsius.

The rain deficit from January 1 to February 10 has increased to 71 per cent and the region received average rainfall of 34.9 mm against normal rainfall of 120.4 mm which did not augur well for winter crops.

The MeT office has predicted rains or snow over next three days in higher hills and on February 11 and 12 in mid and lower hills.
