Two people, including a local Awami National Party (ANP) leader, were gunned down today when unknown assailants ambushed his car in northwest Pakistan, police said.
Gul Hameed, a local leader of ANP, was shot dead in Katlung area of Mardan district in Khyber Pakthunkhwa along with his friend.
After the incident, police cordoned off the area and started search operation, but the assailants fled from the scene.
The motive behind the double murder is still unclear. Leaders of secular-leaning ANP are under frequent attacks by militants in recent times.
