All Nyishi Students' Union, a prominent students' body in Arunachal Pradesh, today alleged that members of Nyishi community, have received threatening SMS and phone calls demanding ransom in the name of NSCN.
ANSU general secretary Panye Arjun today alleged that in the last one month, many officers and businessmen had received SMS and phone calls from a person claiming to be one Kilonser (a minister) of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN).
"Despite repeated complains by officers and businessmen from our community the police is not taking the matter seriously and trying to divert attention by stating that those were old SMS's", he alleged.

The ANSU appealed to various factions of the NSCN to verify whether the person who is demanding money in their name really belongs to them.
"Many a time, it has been observed that anti-social elements use tag of NSCN and try to extort money from innocent people and we appeal to NSCN groups to look into the matter and not let innocent people be harassed. We respect Naga sentiments and have nothing against any NSCN groups", the ANSU said.
"However, if they carry out extortion activities in Nyishi area and especially if they target Nyishi officers and businessmen, then it may harm Naga-Nyishi relations and repercussion will be not good," he said.
