Seven civic body employees were injured and three vehicles damaged in an incident of brick-batting during an anti-encroachment drive in the Badhapura area here, an official said on Tuesday.

Dy Nagar Ayukta Raj Kumar Mittal said it was a routine anti-encroachment drive in the area where milkmen had encroached upon the road.

Earlier, a notice was issued to them to clear the road, however, they did not pay any heed to it, he said.

Mittal said the encroachers indulged in heavy brick-batting without any provocation after which police was called.

He said the cattle recovered from the spot have been shifted to a goshala.

The cattle will be released only after the payment of penalty by their owners, he added.

SP (City) Ashok Kumar Meena said five people, including two women, have been taken into custody.

As a precautionary measure, heavy police force has been deployed in the area, he said.
