A woman involved in campaign against liquor consumption was today attacked and mercilessly beaten with by cricket bat and iron rods by men engaged in manufacture of illegal brew in Bihar's Sheikhpura district.
Razia Khatoon, the victim, was returning home after a programme in favour of liquor ban on International Women's Day in Makanpur village under Sheikhpura police station when she was attacked by men engaged in manufacture of illegal liquor, police and District Programme Officer of Jeevika, said.
The 32-year-old victim who was attacked with a cricket bat and iron rods and has been admitted at government hospital.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Sheikhpur police station Awdesh Kumar said the police were looking into the complaint of attack on the woman anti-liquor activist.
The incident came days ahead of the Nitish Kumar government's decision to impose a ban on alcohol in the state.
As per the state government's decision, country and spiced liquor would be completely banned in the state from April 1, while Indian Made Foreign Liquor would be allowed at outlets in town managed by the state government corporation.
