Anti-Posco women protestors today went on a dharna at the Posco plant site village of Gobindpur in Jagatsinghpur district demanding immediate withdrawal of policemen and threatened to launch hunger-strike from April 3 if it was not done.

The women under the banner of the Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti women's wing, shouted anti-government and anti Posco slogans and also threatened to disrobe in public as they did earlier in case of 'forcible' land acquisition for the Posco project.

They claimed that they feared a police crackdown after the end of the budget session in the assembly and that the presence of policemen was a cause of tension for women and girls at Gobindpur village.

PPSS president Abhay Sahu said that women would ensure that police did not enter Gobindpur and Dhinikia villages and the men would guard routes through the forest.

Sahu said political party leaders were scheduled to participate in the proposed hunger-strike.

The police, however, said that they needed to remain at the villages as pro-project supporters felt threatened by those of the PPSS.
