The Uttarakhand-Officers-Employees-Teachers Joint Federation held a meeting this evening and decided to postpone the stir as the model code of conduct has come into force in view of the October 10 Tehri Lok Sabha bypoll, its leader Arun Pandey said.

However, he said if the state government buckles under pressure of those demanding quota in promotion in government jobs, they will have no option but to resume their stir.

The federation had been on strike since September 4 in protest against the proposed move.
