Even as Congress leadership has made an attempt to strike a balance by nominating representatives in the committee from various factions, the camp led by Union Minister Anand Sharma dominates the 11-member committee.

While Sharma is the Chairman of the committee, former transport minister in the previous Congress government in the state G S Bali is its Convenor.

Both the leaders are known detractors of Virbhadra Singh with Sharma also considered a contender for the Chief Minister's post in the state.

Bali was a senior minister in the Virbhadra Singh government and had to resign after a CD controversy.

Among the other nine members of the Committee are PCC chief Kaul Singh Thakur and the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Vidya Stokes. They are also now in the anti-Virbhadra camp.

Former Speaker Gangu Ram Musafir and MLA Kuldeep Singh Pathania are the only leaders from Virbhadra camp, who has been nominated in the panel along with Rajya Sabha MP Viplove Thakur.

Nadaun MLA Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, who is a former HP Youth Congress president, first time MLA from Bilaspur Rajesh Dharmani and former Chief Secretary of the state A N Vidyarthi are also members of the Committee, all of whom are now close to Sharma.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi also approved the proposal to appoint Raptam Dorje and Umesh Negi as President of Lalhul and Spiti and Kinnaur Disrict Congress Committees.
