Rohtas district judge Ramshreshtha Singh passed the order rejecting the bail plea of Singh, a former president of Bihar BJP, and others.

The police had lodged a case against the 38 people for illegal mining and murderous attack on policemen by elements associated with the quarrying mafia during an operation against illegal miners in the protected Bansa forest area on February 26.

In another case Chief Judicial Magistrate Satyendra Rajak directed issuing of a public notice on an application by investigators praying for confiscation of Singh's properties.

The police had named Singh as an accused in the illegal mining and quarrying case on the basis of revelation made by a person Ramta Kahal, who was among five persons arrested on June 14 for illegally possessing explosives for mining purposes.

Police had seized 13 sacks ammonium nitrate, 3000 detonators, 13 tractors, four dumpers, two excavators and four other machines used for illegal mining from Bansa mining area in Rohtas district.
