Antique idol recovered from river in Erode

: An antique idol believed to be made of panchaloha, was retrieved today from Cauvery river here.

A fisherman of Mannadampalayam village in the district, recovered a 30 cm high Natarajar idol while fishing in Cauvery river this morning, Deputy Tahsildar Shanmugasundaram told reporters here.

Immediately, the fisherman, Selvaraj informed the local Village Administrative Officer, who along with Revenue officials rushed to the spot and recovered the idol.

The officials said it may have been made of Panchaloha, as it looks over a century old.

They further said the Archaeological Department has been asked to examine the idol.
