BJP MP Anurag Thakur has asked the Centre to restore the wheat quota of Himachal Pradesh and Hamirpur parliamentary constituency.

In a letter to Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs Minister Ramvilas Paswan, Thakur said that since December 2016 wheat quota for APL card holders has been completely stopped and they are being supplied 18 kg of rice only.

The central government has been supplying 35 kg of rice and wheat to BPL, APL and Antyoday Yojna card holders since 2001 under the Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS), Thakur, who is an MP from Hamirpur constituency, said.

Earlier, 20 kg of wheat and 15 kg of rice was supplied to card holders.

There are more than 18 lakh ration card holders, including around 13 lakh APL card holders, in Himachal Pradesh.

Thakur further said that people are facing great difficulty with the government not supplying wheat quota.
