The Airbus 320 aircraft was landing at the Jammu airport for a halt this morning when the pilot experienced some technical problem in one of its engines.

Sources said the ground staff detected plumes of smoke in one of the engines and alerted the pilots.

"Since the aircraft had already landed, it was immediately brought to a halt safely and all the passengers were evacuated safely," an IndiGo spokesperson said.

All the passengers were brought to the terminal building and provided lunch.

The flight, which was originally scheduled to leave for Srinagar at 9:45 hrs, will return to Delhi instead.

"Technicians were brought from Delhi for inspection and rectification of the problem," the spokesperson said.
