The Andhra Pradesh government today complained that there has been no fall in prices of several goods though there was reduction in effective rates of tax post GST, which showed the government in a bad light.
It suggested the Union government evolve arobust price control mechanism at the central level to ensure fall in prices.
In a letter to the GST Council Chairman, state Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu noted: "Though there is a reduction in effective rates of tax on several goods under GST, there is no corresponding fall in prices of those goods. This is reflecting a bad image of the government in the eyes of the public. Hence, it is requested that a robust price control mechanism may be evolved at the Government of India level".

"This should be reduced. Further, the liability to pay tax under reverse charge mechanism is also burden on these small traders. Hence this may be kept on hold for a period of one year," the minister stated.
He demanded that the Centre make available revenue figures, of SGST, CGST, IGST and Cess paid, on the GSTN portal on a real-time basis.
