Sloganeering and uproarious scenes created by the Opposition members over Telangana and other issues marred Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan's customary address to the joint session of Assembly and Council on the opening day of the Budget session here today.

Members of the opposition TRS, the Left parties and TDP were on their feet as soon as the Governor began his speech in the Old Assembly Hall of the Legislature.

They tore copies of the Governor's speech and flung it towards the podium. Security personnel, who stood to provide a protective cover to the Governor at the podium, tried to save him from being hit by the 'paper missiles' thrown at him by the opposition members.

The TRS members, with some of them standing on the chairs, raised slogans like 'Jay Telangana' and also against the state government.

The TDP members held placards highlighting the ongoing power crisis in the state.

Some of the Opposition members tried to move towards the podium, but were prevented by a good number of marshals.

The slogan-shouting continued throughout the Governor's speech, which lasted for about half an hour, in which, he highlighted the development activities of the Congress government in the state.

TDP members left even before the conclusion of Governor's speech.
