"Congress has betrayed the 'aam aadmi' by increasing the prices of petrol and diesel 24 times. The Centre and state governments should be packed off. Though there are four economists in this government, they failed to steer the economy on the path of progress," a BJP release quoted senior leader M Venkaiah Naidu as saying in a dharna held here against the alleged anti-farmer policies and price rise.

Charging that no government has been "as corrupt as the UPA government", Naidu claimed the people would get relief only when the Congress governments go.

BJP would continue its struggle against the Congress, he asserted.

State BJP president G Kishan Reddy alleged that the Congress government has increased the public transport bus fares, professional tax, property tax, electricity charges, fertilisers, water tax among several others.

Similar protests were organised at several other places in the state.
