Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu released water from the Thotapalli irrigation project and dedicated it to the nation at Vullibhadra area here today.

Naidu named the project after a freedom fighter from Srikakulam district called Gouthu Latchanna.

Addressing farmers at a public meeting, Naidu said, "I will never forget the day I laid the foundation stone for the Thotapalli project in 2003," he said.

Blaming the Congress for delaying the project, the AP CM said that the estimated project cost was Rs 450 crore in 2003 and it was to be completed in two years, but it was completed only after 12 years of laying the foundation stone at a cost of Rs 775 crore.

Naidu said that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is committed to develop backward Vizianagaram district on par with other districts and make farming profitable.

He said that the Pattiseema project will be launched on September 16 and all the pending irrigation projects would be completed.
