YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy today accused Andhra Pradesh's Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ministers of deceiving people about the special package for the state, instead of exerting pressure on the union government.
He claimed that special status for the state is the only thing that would enhance its economic, industrial and infrastructural development as well as provide employment to the youth.
Participating in an interactive meeting with students at the Port Kalavani Auditorium here, days ahead of Jagan's fast-unto-death campaign at Guntur from September 26, he launched a sharp attack on the TDP government, alleging that it has drowned itself in corruption.

"Despite the TDP government's attempts to thwart this meeting, thousands of students came voluntarily to support my fight for special status. If Andhra Pradesh is accorded special status, the union government would provide 90 per cent funding for every project and industries would get tax exemptions but Chandrababu Naidu prostrated before the union government due to fear of the Reventh Reddy scam," Jagan said.
He also explained how Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh had seen development after attaining special status.
"The TDP government failed to keep its promises, from waiving farmers' loans, to providing employment, to doling out unemployment allowance. Nobody knows when APPSC releases a notification or the AP government fills up vacant post, at a time when lakhs of unemployed youth wait for such notifications with bated breath," he said.
"Instead of reviving existing universities, the TDP government plans to introduce Private universities Bill to deprive the poor of quality education," Jagan said.
