AP government promises to extend co-operation to farmers

The Andhra Pradesh government would extend full co-operation to tobacco farmers, Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister P Pulla Rao, said here in Ponduru village, at Tangutur mandal of Prakasam district on Sunday evening.

He said that another minister S Raghava Rao and district collector Sujatha Sarma had consoled tobacco farmer B Krishna Rao's (38) wife and her family members at their residence in Ponduru village.

Rao also announced Rs 5 lakh rupees as ex-gratia to the families of those who committed suicide.

He advised tobacco farmers not to commit suicide since the government is taking steps to sort out their problems.
