Andhra Pradesh government has raised compensation for farmers whose crops got damaged in cyclone Hudhud and for fishermen as well, state Endowments Minister P Manikyala Rao said here today.
"The state government has hiked compensation to crops like sugarcane and paddy to Rs 15,000 from Rs 10,000 per hectare, to Rs 25,000 from Rs 24,000 for banana and to Rs 20,000 from Rs 15,000 for mango crop per hectare," Rao told reporters after visiting the cyclone-hit areas in Srikakulam district.
He said the compensation will be handed over to farmers after doing through assessment of damaged crops, Rao added.

"The government is paying Rs 20,000 for motorboats damaged in the cyclone, and Rs 5,000 for fully damaged net," the minister said.
Cyclone Hudhud caused a massive damage in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagram and Srikakulam districts by uprooting trees, damaging towers and destroying crops in some areas on Sunday.
