Andhra Pradesh Government today urged the Centre to take steps for safe return of workers from the state who are stranded in strife-torn Libya.

In his letter to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Andhra Pradesh Minister for NRI Relations, Palle Raghunatha Reddy requested her to provide necessary help like food and shelter to those stuck in the African country, saying they are poor and semi-skilled workers.

He appealed to Swaraj to ensure their free travel to India.

Many people from Kurnool district are believed to have been stranded in Libya, the minister said.
