Andhra Pradesh government, which faces a revenue deficit, today substantially increased the honorariums and sitting fees of elected representatives of Panchayat Raj institutions.
The hike would be effective from October 1, a government order issued today said.
The honorarium of chairpersons of zilla praja parishads has been increased from Rs 7,500 per month to Rs 40,000, while the same for members of zilla parishad territorial constituencies and presidents of mandal praja parishads have been increased from Rs 1,500 to Rs 6,000 per month, th order said.
Honorariums of mandal parishad territorial council members and sarpanchs have been increased to Rs 3,000 from Rs 750 and Rs 1,000 per month, respectively.
