AP minister gives up LPG subsidy

Andhra Pradesh minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao today gave up his LPG subsidy as part of the ongoing 'Give It Up' campaign.

Rao, the state's Water Resources minister handed over a letter in this regard to his LPG dealer at a function held at Rayanapadu village in the district.

The minister said his decision came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal in the regard, as he called the better- off sections of the society to forego their LPG subsidy.

As part of the 'Give It Up' campaign, he appealed to the rich to respond to the Prime Minister's appeal by giving up that subsidy.
 

At the same function, he also distributed 180 LPG connections to poor families under the 'Deepam' scheme.
