Using words like 'mafia' against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah, an Andhra Pradesh Minister today accused the Centre of hatching conspiracies against the Chandrababu Naidu government through Governor E S L Narasimhan.

"It"s a mafia team of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah in New Delhi. They will hatch any conspiracy It is clear conspiracies are being hatched against the AP government. And, the Governor is the key man in this for the Centre," Social Welfare Minister Nakka Anand Babu alleged.

His sharp attack came three days after N Chandrababu Naidu held a one-on-one meeting with the Governor in Vijayawada for over 90 minutes, during which Narasimhan reportedly asked the Chief Minister to tone down his outbursts against the BJP and the Centre.

Addressing a press conference in the state secretariat here, Babu also accused Narasimhan of interfering in political affairs and sought to know how he was being continued as the Governor for over 11 years now.

"Does the Narendra Modi government has any shame? How is it continuing a Governor appointed by another government? It is only because he is acting as a stooge," he charged.

The Minister said TDP always opposed the institution of Governor. "We are reacting now as his (Narasimhan's) real face has been exposed," he added.

His outburst came in the backdrop of the TDP"s growing displeasure with Narasimhan, particularly after the ruling party snapped its ties with BJP.

This is the first time a Minister in the Naidu government has made a public statement against Narasimhan.

As per the AP Reorganisation Act, Narasimhan has been continuing as the common Governor for both Andhra and Telangana since the bifurcation of the state in June 2014.

Interestingly, it was the BJP " when it was still in alliance with the TDP " that sought the appointment of an exclusive Governor for Andhra, accusing him of being biased against the state.
