AP power firm engineer held in disproportionate assets case

The Andhra Pradesh Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) today arrested a power distribution company official in a disproportionate assets case.

Maddela Nagaraju, working as assistant divisional electrical engineer with the AP Southern Power Distribution Company Ltd at Allagadda in Kurnool district, was found in possession of assets worth over Rs 2 crore, which were disproportionate to his known sources of income, the ACB said.

The ACB sleuths conducted searches in Allagadda, Kurnool and Velugodu and discovered that the officer owned a duplex house, another house, eight open plots, a residential flat and several acres of land, among other assets, the anti- graft agency said in a release here.
 

Three houses, as many residential flats, a house site and several acres of land in his wife's name were also discovered, it said.

Two houses were registered in the name of his kin, while gold and silver articles were also found, the ACB said, adding three bank lockers of the accused were yet to be opened.
