A local court today referred a complaint against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy over his remarks on formation of Telangana state to the police.

Advocate Janardhan filed the private complaint over Reddy's recent statement that Centre should first address issues related to river-water sharing, power shortage, employment and status of Hyderabad before taking the next step on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

He alleged that Reddy was trying to stall creation of Telangana state.

The Ranga Reddy district metropolitan magistrate referred the matter to Saroor Nagar police, seeking 'a status report' by September 16, prosecution sources said.

The complaint said Reddy was spreading falsehood and provoking Seemandhra agitators against the central government.

Deputy Commissioner of Police C Ravi Varma told PTI that police had not received any court order in this matter yet.
