AP: Strike evokes mix response in Prakasam district

The day-long strike called by 10 central trade unions against changes in labour laws and privatisation of PSUs evoked mix response in Praksam district of Andhra Pradesh.

About 2,200 workers of employees union and staff and workers federation unions of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) participated in strike, V Ramesh, regional secretary, employees union, APSRTC said.

However, the recognised union of APSRTC - National Mazudur union (NMU) stayed away from the strike.

Work in Central and state government offices and nationalised banks was affected.

As many as 10 central trade unions have gone on a day-long nationwide strike to protest against changes in labour laws and privatisation of PSUs.
 

BJP-backed BMS and NFITU however stayed away from the strike.
