As part of Energy Efficiency & Energy Conservation (EE&EC) programme, Andhra Pradesh government has decided to distribute 15 lakh more LED bulbs to domestic consumers.

Accordingly, Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited (APEPDCL) in coordination with State Energy Conservation Mission (SECM) has made arrangements for launching of the scheme -- DSM based Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) -- at Narasapur in West Godavari district by Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission Chairman G Bhavani Prasad tomorrow.

Minister for Women Empowerment & Child Welfare, P Sujata will launch the scheme on April 24 at Jangareddygudem in West Godavari district, an SECM statement said.

This is the fourth pilot district approved by the government for implementation of DELP, after Guntur, Anantpur and Srikakulam districts, wherein a total of around 42 lakh LED bulbs were already distributed.

Two numbers of 7W LED bulbs at a price of Rs 10 per bulb are distributed to each household in these districts for exchange of two numbers of 60W ordinary incandescent bulbs.

The implementing agency, Energy Efficiency Services Ltd, has called for tenders for procurement of LED bulbs to extend the DELP scheme to the entire state, it was stated.
