Consumers in Andhra Pradesh will get onion at Rs 20 per kg at all Rythu Bazars (farmers market) across the state from today, agriculture minister P Pulla Rao said.

Addressing reporters here, Rao said onion prices suddenly increased.

"But Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu purchased onions from Maharashtra and other states and made arrangements to give onions at the lowest rate to the consumers," he said.

Presently, we (the govt) will distribute onions through 80 Rythu Bazars and later 40 additional Rythu Bazars will be arranged for sake of consumers, he added.

Meanwhile, the minister also inaugurated an onion counter at Rythu Bazar here.
