Concerned over physical assaults on college teachers, the Arunachal Pradesh College Teachers Association (APCTA) today decided to boycott the forthcoming examinations and stage dharna in the college campus.

"Enough is enough. Teachers cannot be treated as a punching bag by the students," APCTA President Dr Jommi Loyi said in a press conference here.
He alleged that despite several pleas, the state government failed to provide security to the teaching community who were serving the state with utmost dedication.
"Assault on teachers is not a new trend in the state. Since 2006 we are facing similar situation. We will fight for our justice till the accused were arrested and awarded imprisonment for five years. Moreover, their university registrations should be cancelled immediately," he said.
The association appealed to students, associations and unions not to interfere with the police while taking action against the accused saying that wrong doers should be punished so that no such incident recurred in the future.
The APCTA also asked the parents to inculcate good manners in their children and sought cooperation from civil societies and administration.
