The All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee today threatened to launch protest march from Kashmir to Kanyakumari if its six-point charter of demands, which included introduction of Temples and Shrines Bill in the current session of Assembly, are not met within two months.
"APMCC will undertake a 'Kafan (shroud) yatra' against the discriminatory attitude of the state government if six-point charter of demands was not implemented within two months as assured by the government during a meeting on February 28," National Spokesperson of APMCC, King C Bharati said today.
Bharati said the decision to undertake 'Kafan yatra' was taken by the core group.
APMCC, which held a high-powered core group meeting under the chairmanship of Vinod Pandit here, reviewed the progress on the matter and concluded that government has yet not taken any step towards introduction of Temples and Shrines Bill in the current session of J&K Assembly.
"Despite the assurance of minister for Relief, Revenue and Rehabilitation Aijaz Ahmed Khan during his interaction with team APMCC on February 28 that he would personally talk to the Chief Minister as well as the Speaker to pave way for introduction of the Bill in the Assembly no step seems to have been taken as yet," Pandit said.
Pandit said that he had called off his 15-day long fast at Porbandar only after written and verbal assurance of the minister.
The minister had sought some time to get back on the issue but till date no communication has come forth even as the current session of the Assembly is about to end, he said.
The six-point charter of demands are dialogue with Pakistan for facilitating visit to Shardha Peeth Temple in PoK, establishment of Shardha Peeth University in JK, probe into the multi-crore temple/shrines land encroachment in Kashmir, passing of the pending Kashmir Temples and Shrines Bill in JK Legislative Assembly, one time compensation for aged migrant Kashmiri Hindu youth and special employment package for non-migrant Hindus of Kashmir Valley.
