Setting its sight on the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Apna Dal (Sonelal), an ally of the BJP at the
Centre and Uttar Pradesh, will be celebrating the 69th birth anniversary of its founder Sonelal Patel in a major way on
July 2.
"The birth anniversary of Sonelal Patel has been celebrated in different parts of eastern UP in the past few years. However, this year, the celebrations will be held in the state capital of Lucknow and will be known as 'Jan Swabhiman Diwas'," party spokesperson Arvind Sharma told PTI here today.
"The birthday celebration this time is likely to witness people from different sections of the society assembling in Lucknow to participate in the programme," he said.
Among the prominent invitees to the event are Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union ministers Ram Vilas Paswan and Anupriya Patel, and UP MLC Ashish Patel, Sharma said.
The spokesperson added that the Apna Dal (S) has been able to expand its footprints in western UP after consolidating its position in eastern parts of the state.
